Several 1th year students have used the Aibo for their last week assignment.

• One group picked up a chesspiece and placed it a few places futher. See their Labbook http://bsited.nl/wiki/index.php?DagBoek. • The wireless accesspoint is not stable. Edwin is upgrading the firmware.

• After resetting the wireless-card of pc-zoran, I tested the sample programs.
• The Virtual Aibo directory have to be in the Path, so I added this path to the system-environment variable.
• Base Agent allows to bark and dance remotely.
• Network needs a php webserver, so not tested yet.
• Take picture is like Tekkotsu / Speedracer.
• Simple Navi needs Direct X 9b, which can be downloaded (182Mb) from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9216652f-51e0-402e-b7b5-feb68d00f298&displaylang=en. To stop the Aibo, press [A], to quit [ESC].
• Remote Test needs also Speech API 5.1, which can be downloaded (132Mb) from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5E86EC97-40A7-453F-B0EE-6583171B4530&displaylang=en. Without this package, the communication link dies every time you use one of the speech modules.
• Remote Test works now fine, after only downloading msttss22L.exe (automatically installed in C:/WINNT). Content is a sort of ftp, but for specific files (movement, sound, images). Try to couple with Motion Editor.

• Installed the Remote Framework and the Motion-Editors on pc-zoran:/Programs?.
• The Remote Framework executes BasicAgent?.exe programs without documentations, but with source code,

when the correct Memorystick is in the Aibo and the Wlan configured.

• The Motion-Editor is much more close to end-users, with a graphical interface and a manual. Yet,

it works 'only' for the simulation. The animoted motions can be converted to executable motions, but this is so difficult that a script will be necessary (bye bye end-user).

Compiled new Tekkotsu memorystick under Tekkotsu 2.1 and OPEN-R 1.1.5r2. Mind to compile for ERS-7 (Set in file /usr/local/Tekkotsu?/TGT_MODEL to ERS_7). To get the full resolution picture (416*320) set the option rawcam_y_skip and rawcam_uv_skip both to zero. These options are found on the ms in file config/tekkotsu.cfg

Installed the Tekkotsu 2.1 development environment on PC-ZORAN. Installed the java j2sdk1.4.2_03. To get the Matlab-Java connection working the following has to be done :

• Create a jar file of the java classes. (org.tekkotsu.mon)
• Add the path of the jar file to your personal classpath.txt
• Create a shortcut to the matlab executable to start in your folder where the classpath.txt resides.
• Add the environment variable MATLAB_JAVA to point to the rt.jar of the j2sdk. (See http://www.mathworks.com/support/solutions/data/28677.html)
• Add the path of the Java folder to the PATH variable.

Sitecom WL-012 wireless ethernet usb module installed. Disabled the WZCS service to avoid connection problems. (See also http://www.foxpop.co.uk/wifi/wifi_10.htm)
