Audio Processing Course: Practicum

The first part of lab course (practicum) will be focused on simple filter related exercises. Later we will move on to a more realistic speech processing problems. For every lab meeting there is a number of assignments planned, most of them require Matlab as the programming environment. Below will find more information about the exercises, reports and Matlab.

It is helpful to have minimal Matlab experience beforehand, nonetheless during the first days there is enough time scheduled for those that are not familiar with Matlab. We will use Matlab version 5.3 or higher. The exercises are held in computer lab (Euclides Gebouw), where every station has Matlab installed. Unfortunately, the current status of the UvA Matlab license does not permit us to hand out free copies.

Reports

We expect a (brief) written summary for every set of assignments, giving the answers to the all stated questions. Please, do not include Matlab code in your reports (unless required), but do not forget to draw all the requested graphs. You can prepare your report in Dutch, although English is preferred. This will not have any effect on the grade. The reports can be submitted electronically to [wzajdel * science.uva.nl], or handed out printed (by the internal Uva Post or during the practicum).
