AIO Meetings

Starting time for the AIO soos: 11:30am
Location: room F0.13, Kruislaan 403, Amsterdam
Duration of the AIO soos: +/- 1 hour
Talk length: 15 minutes presentation + 5 minutes questions

Many AIOs in research groups ILPS, IAS and ISIS belong to the Advanced School for Computing and Imaging. This graduate program states that every ASCI member should be trained in giving presentations and asking critical questions. In our group, we provide this training to ASCI members by means of regular meetings in which two ASCI members present research results and the other ASCI members simulate a conference audience. Traditionally each ASCI member gives a presentation twice a year, once before the summer interval, once after. Everyone is asked to participate in the meetings (both AIOs and staff members), the request being "if you are in the building, you be there", with the extra remark "and if you're not in the building, then you'll be missed!". Each AIO is asked to arrange with his/her supervisor or another staff member to get advice on the (quality and style of) his/her presentation, prior to his/her talk. Experienced AIOs are asked to prearrange with their supervisor or another staff member to get feedback on (the quality and style of) their presentation.

There are separate meetings for the ILPS, the IAS and the ISIS group. Everyone is welcome to all meetings, no matter which group she or he belongs to.

Meetings last 1 hour, being composed of two/three presentations of 15 minutes each (plus 5 minutes for questions). There is a reserved slot of 5 minutes for staff announcements at the end of the meeting.

For using the announcement slot contact Vivek Edatan Puthiya Veettil.
For more information about the ISIS meetings, contact Vivek Edatan Puthiya Veettil.
For more information about the IAS meetings, contact Carsten Cibura.

The speakers is requested to arrange a laptop themselves for their presentation. There is a fixed computer in the room, but it has not been used in years.
