This page displays the birth- and deathplaces of artists. For each of the selectable ten art styles, forty artist are extracted from the web with an information extraction/ ontology population method based on redundancy (for more information visit my publications page. Note that these contain some errors. Of these forty artists, the birthplace and deathplace information is retrieved from Getty's ULAN and TGN vocabularies if they are available. Note however, that for a large number of artists, this information is not available. The locations are plotted via Javascript (thanks) on a Google Map using the Google Maps API and lines linking the locations for a single artist.
