Emmanouil (Manos) Tsagkias is from Athens, Greece. First degree in Physics at Physics Department, Patras University. MSc with Merit in Informatics at School of Computer Science, Manchester University. Masters thesis focuses on time series analysis: “Symbolic Representation of Time Series.”
Since 2007, a PhD candidate at Information and Language Processing Systems Group (ILPS) in University of Amsterdam, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maarten de Rijke.
Previous research interests: Information Retrieval on User Generated Speech Content, namely Podcasts, on focused retrieval in ASR transcripts and on search results representation of ASR output.
Current research interests: Tracking News and their impacT, topic detection and tracking, event threading, new story detection, story link detection, user generated content.
