Course information
This course consists of a basic introduction to string theory.
We will partly follow the book
We will also use the lectures notes by Paul Ginsparg, Applied Conformal Field Theory , and the two standard textbooks
Below we will keep track of the topics covered in every lecture,
so that you can see where we stand
in the class. There are several books about string theory and there is
a lot of material available on the web, so it should not be too hard to
find additional background material. There will be a closed book
final exam. Homework will be given in every lecture
but it will not be graded.
The final exam will determine the final grade.
The lectures will start with one and half hour recitation of the
material from the previous week and a discussion of the homework.
The retake exam will count for 100% of the final grade.
