International Bird Avoidance Modelling Research
& Development Network
Background
The main
objective of this network is the
transfer of knowledge relevant to Bird Avoidance Modelling for improved
flight
safety; this includes modeling techniques and results, data handling
and
communications as well as the use of different sensors needed for bird
detection. These network activities are part of the International
Bird Strike Committee (IBSC) Bird Avoidance
Modelling Working Group.
On July 8, 2003, the first
Euro-BAM (Bird Avoidance Modelling) research network meeting
was held at the University
of Amsterdam. This was a first
initiative to create a network to facilitate cooperation in the
development of
a European Bird Avoidance Model.
Participants of the first meeting joined from Belgium, England,
Germany,
The Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
The 2nd EuroBAM Network
meeting
and workshops was held from November 8 –12, 2004 at the University
of
Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The main
objective of this meeting is the transfer of knowledge relevant to
(BAM) for
improved flight safety. Participants
from Belgium, Denmark, England, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland
and the
United States of America will be actively participating.
The 3rd IBSC Bird Avoidance Modelling Working Group meeting was held in
Traben-Trarbach, Germany, October 23-35, 2006. Participants attended
from Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland and the
United Kingdom.
This network is in open to anyone
interested in actively participating.
Aims of the EuroBAM research
network:
-
Exchange information on
local research and future initiatives
-
Coordination of
activities and exchange of research modules
-
Exchange of knowledge
and data
-
Connection between
operational systems and researchers
-
Standardization or
common consensus
-
Search for
opportunities for future international collaboration
