* Crossgrid project

Time and efforts: a lot

CrossGrid is a pan european Grid project for which I designed and built PSS, the desktop virtual reality system, developed a VR front-end application that runs on it and did some studies on system overall architecture.

* PSS (Personal Space Station)

Status: Up and running
Started: Middle June 2003
Operational: Since middle August 2003
Expenses: Around 15K euro

The PSS is a small scale, low budget, desktop virtual reality system...

* DTF (data transfer facility)

Status: Released
Started: August 2001
Finished: February 2002
Platforms: Generic UNIX

DTF (data transfer facility) is intended to serve intensive data transfers between components of distributed system...

* 'mytrackd' software to serve tracking and controlling with CAVELib

Status: first stable working version, further development frizzed
Started: april 2001
Frizzed: may 2001
Platforms: All supported both by VRPN and CAVELib (IRIX, Linux, SunOS etc)

Tracking & controlling software is used with VR applications to collect data from tracking devices and controllers, to process it and finally to send it to VR application. 'mytrackd' software is based on VRPN package and can be used with CAVELib instead of VRCO 'trackd'...

* 'Surfer' the photorealistic visualisator

Status: second version finished
Started: first version completed in april 1999
Finished: second version was done in april-may 2000
Platforms: Whenever A|W MAYA can be run (IRIX, Windows, Linux, MacOS X ?)

'Surfer' project goal is to try to apply photorealistic rendering strategy for scientific data visualization. Methods normaly used in photorealistic rendering seem to benefit in scientific visualization as well...
