As much as my work as plant population ecologist and conservation biologist allows, I am outside enjoying nature and, whenever I discover something there that speaks to me, I try to capture its spirit in a photograph. Translating my feelings about a landscape or a small natural object into a meaningful image is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling parts of my life.

On this website, I wrote a small essay on my ideas about nature and landscape photography, on why I finally chose to work in monochrome instead of in colour, and on the techniques I use to create my images.

Since many years, I belong to a group of amateur nature photographers from around Amsterdam (the V.A.N.), that meets once a month to share and discuss their work. The VAN is one of the groups of the Dutch Union for Nature Photographers (NVN), on the website of which I have a small portfolio as well.
