How did we built our hyperbolic mirror omnidirectional camera - practical issues and basic geometry

Abstract:

Like a lot of other researchers in the field of mobile robotics we decided to build an omnidirectional vision system by placing a hyperbolic mirror in front of a regular perspective camera. In this paper we give an account of the practical issues we encountered when assembling and calibrating our omnidirectional camera system. Hopefully our experiences can help others that want to build their own system.
