CLIN 2005 site launched

The 16th meeting of computational linguistics in the Netherlands will take place on December 16, 2005, in Amsterdam, organized by Maarten de Rijke, Remko Scha, Khalil Sima'an, and Rob van Son. The site for CLIN 2005 has just been launched at this address.

MuSeUM proposal funded

Good news on the funding end: NWO's Catch program (Continuous Access to Cultural Heritage) has decided to fund the MuSeUM project (Multiple-collection Searching Using Metadata). Jaap Kamps and Maarten de Rijke are the applicants of this project, while Vincent de Keijzer represents the main cultural heritage partner in this proposal, the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. The project runs for four years, employs an AIO, postdoc, and programmer, and has a budget of 561,096 euros.

WebCLEF deadline

The (extended) deadline for WebCLEF is tomorrow, Monday June 20, 2005, noon GMT. In this first year of WebCLEF, participants can submit runs for two "official tasks": mixed monolingual and multilingual. In addition, a third "un-official" task is being organized: bilingual English to Spanish. Go visit the WebCLEF site for details.
