In January 2006, I started to work as a guest researcher at the Institute of Phonetic Sciences, University
of Amsterdam. Previously, I worked as a post-doc in the project "Computing with Meaning" at the
Informatics Institute. Before I moved to Amsterdam, I was part of the psycholinguistics group in
Saarbrücken at the Institute for Computational Linguistics . I worked there in the SFB project ALPHA,
"Adaptive Mechanisms in Human Language Processing".

Research interests
My PhD thesis focused on probabilistic syllable modeling. I mainly worked with probabilistic
context-free grammars and soft clustering. After finishing my PhD in July 2002, I did also research
in statistical syntax. Beside these topics, I am interested in the application of speech technology,
speech synthesis, computational phonology, intonation and question answering.

If you are interested in visiting Amsterdam, have a look at the weather first. However, don't be disappointed,
the weather might also not be better in Stuttgart or in Saarbrücken. Anytime (any weather) can be the best time
to visit Amsterdam (see lonelyplanet). Learning a new language, e.g. Dutch, is very nice.
