AUTHOR INSTRUCTIONS

NEW! Please check our page on how to prepare your presentation.

Authors who received the notification of acceptance are kindly requested to take into account comments of the reviewers and to prepare their final papers according to the requirements listed here!

Due to great popularity and many requests for individual extension we have decided to extend the deadline to February 15th!

Authors who have already submitted their papers are kindly requested to resubmit by using our submission system: http://www.easychair.org/StuSESSLLI2006/.
The detailed instructions accompanied by screenshots can be found here: http://staff.science.uva.nl/~katrenko/stus06/HowToEasyChair.html.
In case you have any problems with the online submission, please contact our chairs, Janneke Huitink or Sophia Katrenko.

Every paper should be submitted anonymously with clear indication of its modality of presentation (oral or poster) and of its category. The ESSLLI categories to choose from are: Logic & Language (lola), Logic & Computation (loco), and Language and Computation (laco). If you are not familiar with these categories, you might want to have a look at the ESSLLI page, and see which courses are assigned to which category. If the program committee thinks it suitable, it may be suggested to change the category of your paper. In this case, you will be notified.

Hints how to check which category your paper belongs to

If your paper analyzes a formal language (a logical language for instance), then it definitely belongs to the Logic & Computation category. If your paper deals with natural language, it is either in Logic & Language or in Language & Computation. Roughly, the distinction between logic & language and Language & Computation corresponds to the distinction between linguistics and computational linguistics. In general, formal semantics and pragmatics papers belong to Logic & Language, as well as syntax papers. The submissions to Language & Computation area often discuss implementations (e.g., for parts of speech tagging, parsing etc).

Your paper should be named by the following convention: category-modality-last name(s) of author(s). For example, if your last name is Smith, and you are submitting a paper for poster presentation in the area of Language and Computation, your paper should be named: laco-poster-smith. Please note that the preferred format for submission is PDF. Your submission must use single column A4 size pages, 11pt or 12pt fonts, and standard margins (bottom and top - 1", left and right - 1,25"). Submissions not in accordance with the specified formatting and length requirements may be subject to rejection without review. Every submission has to be accompanied by a separate identification page.

The identification page should follow this format:

Title of Submission:.......
Modality of Presentation:......
Category: .........

Author 1:
Name: ‹name of author 1
Affiliation: ‹ affiliation of author 1
E-mail: ‹ e-mail of author 1

Author N:
Name: ‹ name of author N
Affiliation: ‹ affiliation of author N
E-mail: ‹ email of author N

The identification page has to be submitted in plain text format. Submission should be sent by e-mail to esslli@science.uva.nl with a subject "ESSLLI STUS submission", by February 1st, 2006.

Here you can find information on how to write a good paper.
