Lab course `Multiagent Systems and Distributed AI'
UvA, 8 Feb - 17 May 2006 (AI-MSc IS/GA).
For details about the course (including dates and location) see the
course website. The lab course will be each Friday between 9:00
and 11:00 in room P.127, gebouw Euclides, Plantage Muidergracht 24.
First lab course 10 Feb, last lab course 12 May. There will be no lab
course on 31 March, 14 April, and 5 May.

08-05-2006There will no lab course on Friday 12
May. The deadline for the final assignment will now be on
May 19th. If you have problems with the assignment, please contact
me by e-mail.
12-02-2006There will also be no lab course on Friday 17
February. To compensate, there will be a lab course at Thursday
16 February. I will be available in P.126 between 11:00 and 14:00.
Depending on the other
lab courses, you might have to sit in another room, but can always
drop by in P.126.

Lab course
The subject for all lab assignments is the Pursuit Domain (or
Predator-Prey domain). In a discrete grid-like world it is the goal of
the predators to capture the prey as fast as possible. We will look at
different approaches to capture the prey.
For each approach you have to show the final behavior of the system
and give a short oral description of your approach on the date of the
deadline for that assignment (see below).
Your approach will be evaluated on three aspects:
- achieved episode times to catch the prey
- quality of the algorithms
- clarity of the argumentation
Each assignment has an equal weight and the lab course mark will count for
1/3 of the total mark. It is allowed to work in pairs.

Pursuit Doman: manual
The manual can be downloaded here: manual.pdf.
This manual gives an overview of the Pursuit domain software. All
software is located in the /home/stud/mas directory on the student
network. The complete package can be downloaded here.
Assignments
Registration
Please send a registration mail containing your name, college number
and e-mail address to jellekok@science.uva.nl if you intend to follow the lab
course. I can then keep track of the number of participants and inform
you of any changes in the schedule and/or assignments.
