Athletics

Athletics is one of my greates hobbies. In 1984, I participated for the first in a real match, the Sagitta Bosloop in het Amsterdamse Bos. A journalist (the father of a friend of mine) created the picture on the right, which was placed on the cover of a running magazine. As you can see, I was still a little Jelle at the time.

Thereafter, I got real enthusiastic and spent a lot of my free time on an athletics track. The only exceptions were the time I couldn't walk yet, high school (other priorities) and of course during all the inevitable injuries.

Currently I am a member of Phanos, a club which rapidly becomes one of the most prominent clubs in The Netherlands. Its training location is the renovated Olympic Stadium used for the Olympics in 1928 (picture on the bottom of this page).

Furthermore, I am part of the committee of an athletics club for students in Amsterdam. For more information, look at http://www.asavaquila.nl.
