Curriculum vitae: Bas Terwijn received a M. Sc. in Software
Engineering from the University of Amsterdam. His expertise is in the
field of software architecture, design and implementation. Employed by
the University of Amsterdam since 2002 he worked on developing
autonomous robots in the 'Real
World Computing Partnership' funded by the Japanese Ministry of
International Trade and Industry, the 'Ambience'
project of the European IST ITEA program, and the 'Cogniron'
project of the IST FP-6 program where his contributions lay in system
engineering and system integration with project partners. Currently he
works on the 'Zorgen voor Morgen' project of the 'Pieken in de Delta'
program where he develops a distributed sensor network for people
monitoring purposes. He served on the local organizing committee of
the IAS2004 and HRI2008 conferences held in Amsterdam. In other
employments he developed stereo vision and motion capture applications
for virtual reality company Crossworlds, developed encryption software
for the Dutch Ministry of Defense, and developed a rule based expert
system for configuring programmable logic controllers for Mitsubishi
Electrics.
